Back from the beach – we jumped right back into winter. We visited Winterlude again, skating on the canal and attempting to build snowmen at Landsdowne Park after a ride on the snowbus. Then we made a trip to visit Opa and Oma in Bonfield – where they hung out with Isaac so Lindy and Jon could go skiing at the new hill in Mattawa. Isaac helped bake his birthday cake, and played the piano. We made an ice tower from coloured blocks that Oma made, and went for a walk on the lake with Opa to see the ice fishing shacks.
Isaac has turned two, and although you can’t always tell by his clothing size – his new abilities keep amazing us and reminding us that he’s not a baby anymore! 2 year old milestones include speaking in full sentences, understanding concepts, potty training, facing forward in the car, climbing the playstructure by himself, singing songs, playing pretend, counting to 5, and of course the full on tantrums. He continues to have a fantastic memory and will bring up something from weeks ago when he sees something to remind him. “Cardinal in the tree! Way up there! Need a ladder to touch it! Fly fly fly!” Without diapers, Isaac can still wear small clothing, however he is definitely feeling heavier these days. We’re not sure how it’s happening because he barely eats – but he’s growing! Daycare has been going well, and he might soon be ready to move up to the next toddler room again now that he’s two.
Although we didn’t have a birthday party for Isaac, he still had several celebrations! We had a playdate with the neighbour kids (Gale and Thalia, Nolan and Wren), a birthday dinner with both sets of grandparents, and they had a party at daycare. Isaac was so excited to share the cupcakes he helped make with his friends that he woke up saying their names “Arlo, Brandon, cupcakes, Luc, cupcakes, Hannah…” Isaac can now sing happy birthday, and knows he is two years old.
