The birthday celebrations continued for Isaac this month with a pizza party at the neighbours house, and a Clark family dinner to also celebrate Dave’s birthday.
We’ve been trying to instill some Isaac cooperation via earning (or losing) coins that he can then choose to spend or save in his sock bank. So far he has paid for a ride on a car at the gym (cosmic adventures) and bought candy from a dispenser. Unfortunately none of our various strategies have kept Isaac in bed at night! We are now out of strategies and Isaac is still waking up a couple times a night wanting to cuddle, meaning that often the only sleep we get is before midnight…
This month has involved much more of the same. The twins are growing well but we continue to have feeding struggles. Asher has been waking up frequently due to painful gas and spits up what seems like most of his intake. He’s boycotted nursing altogether for many possible reasons but we haven’t given up all hope for him yet. Cadence nurses well now, although a possible tongue tie is making it extremely painful. So we are currently living out the pros and cons of both worlds, nursing and bottle feeding…
There are also lots of smiles now, and Asher chuckles in his sleep. Cadence seems to recognise us and smiles when she sees us. They appreciate the help Isaac provides by bringing them stuffed animals or offering to help his parents – “what can i do for you now?”
We’re trying to get out as much as possible while the babies are still so transportable and sleep in the car seats. We had a family outing to the home show, however we’re finding that we end up also being on display as people notice the twin factor and stare or come over to comment on our blessings or busy lives. We’ll always have to be on our best behaviour! Luckily there was enough for isaac to see and do that the day went well. Lindy is also getting out for more walks as the weather gets better. There are a few other maternity moms in the neighbourhood so we’re glad that the streets are clearing up to allow for a few strollers to go side by side.
Isaac is starting to refuse to nap, which at first feels terrible but may actually lead to earlier bedtimes. Just shows he’s growing up. He’s had the perpetual toddler winter cold, and so he often says that a treat will “feel me better”. He’s also sensitive enough to dish out hugs whenever he sees Lindy in pain and asks if Cadence is biting Lindy’s tummy.
People continue to be extremely generous with their time in helping us out. We wouldn’t have survived this past couple months without the extensive help from the grandparents. Other family and friends have been wonderful too! We are happy to have Glenna back in town and look forward to Lindy’s parents moving to Carleton place next month.
