Jon runs the Hood To Coast

The Hood To Coast is a yearly running race that takes place in Oregon.  It is one of the largest, in terms of attendance, races in North America. The race starts at the base of Mount Hood, east of Portland, and snakes its way west passing through Portland and finishing on the beach in Seaside, Oregon. The total distance covered is 199 miles of various degrees of difficulty. No, Jon did not run all 199 miles on his own. The race is a team event. Typically there are 12 people on a team. The 199 miles is split into 36 legs and each runner will run 3 of the 36 legs. Jon made a co-ed team sponsored by his work by submitting a 10 km time that was in the top 6 times submitted by other males in his company.

There was a heavy storm that rolled through in the evening during the run.  The storm brought 60+ mph winds and lots of rain.  The finish for the race, that is usually on the beach, had to be relocated as the band stand and tents were thrown about.
