Merry Puking CHRISTMAS and a happier new year!

It’s been a fun month of December, finished off with a rough start to the holidays. Our Christmas activities included a trip to the Xmas tree farm, a visit with Santa at the neighborhood Xmas party, xmas crafts, shoveling snow (of course!) And many gatherings with friends and family.

Luckily, Asher and Cadence have been taking it slow with the walking stage, and while they can both meander around on foot, they aren’t running away from us yet! But they sure are getting into everything. Climbing onto chairs, stools and high chairs, we’ve had to rearrange furniture to avoid the crashes. It is highly entertaining though. Cadence loves making a mess, emptying laundry baskets, drawers, and shelves etc and throwing everything piece by piece behind her. Asher still loves tight small places and tries to squeeze himself in, over or under… There have been several more cute twin moments recently: Asher attacking Cadence with kisses as she giggles uncontrollably, the two of them playing peekaboo together, the simultaneous excited super crawl towards the stairs whenever the gate is opened, copying each other and fighting/pushing to get to something at the same time, fighting over toys (less cute). This month they learned to clap, drink from a straw, and are still very proud of taking steps.

Isaac is home with us for two weeks over the holidays, keeping us very busy with outings to gymnastics, McDonald’s play place, playdates, tobogganing and generally bouncing off our walls. Fortunately, he has expanded his attention span to the length of a movie and so we are getting a few quiet afternoons. Thanks also to the help we have for the days where Jon has to work and Lindy has all three kids on her own.

Somehow Isaac has avoided the flu that has plagued the babies leading up to Xmas. Asher started teething the week before Xmas, cutting four teeth on top at the same time, limiting our ability to get out of the house. Then he got better and Cadence started with the fever for the weekend before Xmas. They then caught the flu (or something) at a couple parties over the weekend and have been puking off and on since. We thought they were better a few times, with 12-24 hour stretches of seeming well in between, so we continued with our plans…Xmas Eve party, brunch with grandparents, dinner at opa and oma’s, and Boxing Day with Lindy’s family. It was still a nice visit, but unfortunately opa got sick too as we were leaving. We managed an impromptu quick visit with Jon’s family, and another short surprise visit with Zac. A few quieter days were spent disinfecting the house, just in time to host a New Year’s Eve party!

Now that everyone is feeling back to normal, we are looking forward to the new year and the changes that it will bring!
