One step, two step…

A few firsts this month… Asher took his first five steps at the beginning of November, just over 9 months old. He’s been taking it slow since then, only a few steps a day, but is getting more confident. Cadence isn’t too far behind him either, and is very proud of herself when she stands by herself. We can see the wheels in motion in her head as she carefully plans when she’ll take her first few steps. She has moved one foot a few times and it will be any day now when she actually starts walking.

It was the babies’s first Halloween, although their only involvement was a photo shoot. Isaac loves trick or treating, even in the pouring rain! He has been very good about sharing his candy too! He loves all the Halloween activities, carving pumpkins, and decorating. He also helped make his robot costume, although he only wore it for about three houses… Luckily his rain coat looks like a firefighter so he wasn’t completely without costume!! We also went to the pumpkin catapult in the park which was pretty cool, but Isaac didn’t want to smash his carved pumpkin.

Isaac went in the ballroom at Ikea for the first time, and although he wanted us to watch him from the window, he barely looked over to see if we were there…a step in the right direction for sure…just three more years until we can drop them all off for a date night at Ikea!! This was also our first time eating dinner in public as a family, and it only cost $16 to feed all 5 of us! 😉

At 18lbs, Asher is a pound heavier than Cadence, but she’s still taller. They continue to make us laugh, and are so different. Cadence is mischievous, always knocking everything onto the floor, and looking at us and laughing when we tell her no. Asher is constantly trying to get into the small tight spaces, and then screams in frustration when he doesn’t fit or can’t get through. The gymnastics playgroups are getting busier with the two of them going in opposite directions, and heading straight for stairs, climbing everything!

It really felt like winter came overnight. Isaac has been enjoying playing in the snow and shoveling. The babies have only made it outside to play for a few short minutes before becoming a scream fest. It’s been a bit of an ordeal to get them dressed to go out.

Lindy had her weekend away, and had a great time despite being sick with a bad cold, which has lingered on and on in addition to the kids’ perpetual colds. It was a much needed getaway, only made possible by all the help provided to Jon – very much appreciated again!!

The biggest news this month is that Jon switched jobs. He is now working full time with Dan’s permanent holiday lighting company – Celebright. This means a fairly big adjustment for all of us (we were spoiled having Jon work from home this year) but with lots of help from the grandparents, this transition is going well enough. Luckily nights are going a bit better around here and we’ve graduated out of survival mode for the most part. Greg and Jon were able to get the front hall tiled just in time for Jon to be working full time again, and there are only the last few touches to be done on that renovation. Thanks Greg!
