Spring, Summer and Fall 2023

Spring was full of song, as Cadence has started happily narrating everything that she does in a singing voice. Isaac became very fitness crazed, which rubbed off on Asher too – so they were always checking out their muscles. Isaac loved the obstacle course race gym where he went for March break and still does chin ups on his bunk bed frame and asks for plank competitions with his dad.

The kids enjoyed our trip to Montreal for Lindy’s birthday which included a stop at Parc Omega on the way, and then a visit to the Biodome and lunch in old Montreal. Of course, the best part was the hotel pool. It was a start to some travelling, making it seem possible that we are finally in a new stage with the kids.

Kids activities included a bowling birthday party, and Isaac did his first escape room. We participated in the CN Cycle for CHEO again, and went to the Tulip festival with Grandma and Papa.

Unfortunately the cottage tree house fell down in a big storm and so there were many weekends spent rebuilding a new structure alongside the usual opening up of the cottage.

Lindy and Jon also took a trip to Kelowna for Jon’s brother’s wedding, which was amazing but felt very short with the time change. Lindy’s friend Christine came to watch the kids while the parents were gone, and she brough her two year old Oliver as well. The kids had a blast, and we hope she’ll come back again soon!

Summer 2023

Isaac started baseball and wanted to play 24/7, but who knew that signing up a 7 year old for baseball would turn into 4 days a week!

Cadence and Asher played Tball.

We had a wonderful summer holiday at the cottage with lots of family and friends. So much fishing, swimming and playing.

Trips to the mica mines at Murphy’s Point, Aquatarium, Sandbanks, Bonechere caves

camping adventures including trailer tires blowing along the way followed by an almost-tornado

Upper Canada village and Perth fair, Fireworks festival, movie in the park, police memorial, birthday celebrations for Oma and Grandma

First day of kindergarten for Cadence and Asher! Asher got on the bus! (we weren’t sure he would, but Isaac was an exceptional big brother and encouraged him and sat with him to make it fun). The transition has been smooth, even with Lindy learning how to make three lunches everday for picky eaters!

Fall 2023

Halloween lasts all fall until Christmas decorations go up. Trip to Saunders farm always a hit, this year with Isaac making it halfway through the haunted house! Cadence and Asher have joined in the love or gems, and all kids spent their Saunder farm money on the rock sifting activity.

Trip to the apple orchard with friends

Trip to Toronto for another family wedding, with a visit at Uncle Jason’s, the Toronto Zoo, and the Ripley’s Aquarium. Friends Zac and Meghan kindly watched the kids overnight in Toronto while LIndy and Jon had a night out at the wedding. Another successful travel experience, enhanced by a hotel with a pool, and some Gravol for sleeping almost all the way home.

Holiday concerts at school were adorable. Asher was shy and barely moved while Cadence sang her heart out. Isaac had to dance “a wedding dance” with a girl! Great performance all around.
